Today we remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the loved ones of those who were lost, and to our troops who are far from home in defense of our freedom.

I was introduced to this blog when a friend sent me to your Goodbye Trees article and since then I have gone back and read hundreds of posts. this is a good blog and I like your website to. It sounds like you do good work, One thing though this post strikes me as political for a poverty organization. I was one of those soldiers "far from home" and I can tell you that in my opinion, and millions of others the last thing we were doing was fighting for anyone's "freedoms". We were fighting for a lot of reasons, and some of them (at least in Afghanistan) were valid but when you say were there "in defense of freedom" it sounds like your saying that everything that hapened is okay. it wasn't. those guys (in iraq) dont care about our freedoms and they represented no clear and present danger. i lost friends their and they didnt die for our freedoms but for their brothers and sisters in uniform who were put into harms way. lets call it what it is.

Hi Roger, Thanks for commenting. You are right: As a poverty organization, we do not involve ourselves in politics in any way. Our post is simply to say thanks to you and others like you who wear or have worn our country's uniform. Regardless of politics, we appreciate what you do. Regards, Kelly Content Manager Children International
